Rundle Illuminations

Various Artists x Illuminate Adelaide

As part of the much-loved City Lights program during Illuminate Adelaide 2025, Rundle Illuminations is set to transform Adelaide’s iconic East End into a glowing playground of creativity, curiosity, and wonder.

Scattered throughout Rundle Street and surrounding laneways, Rundle Illuminations features a vibrant mix of large-scale interactive installations, joyful roving performances, and mesmerising light artworks from world-renowned artists. This year’s headline installation is LAPS by Quebec artist Olivier Landreville—a giant 7.8-foot hourglass wheel that invites you to control the passage of time itself. Spin the wheel, and watch the seconds cascade by in a hypnotic, hands-on experience.

Making their Rundle Illuminations debut in 2025, Melbourne’s beloved street theatre company Born in a Taxi will delight audiences with their luminous Illuminated Angels and whimsical Illuminati performances. Also lighting up the streets is the surreal spectacle of FierS à Cheval by France’s Compagnie des Quidams, featuring enormous inflatable horses that glide through the night in a dreamlike procession.

On Friday and Saturday night, Rundle Street will be closed to traffic as fire pits and on-street dining take over the road, creating a warm and vibrant atmosphere that invites you to linger longer, dine under the stars, and bask in the glow of the city.

After the excitement, take a moment to rest and reflect on one of our glowing light benches, specially brought in from Germany. They offer the perfect perch to soak in the sights, sounds, and soul of Rundle Illuminations.

From 4–20 July, City Lights invites locals and visitors alike to explore Adelaide after dark, as the city comes alive with free, family-friendly experiences across the CBD—from the vibrant East End to the sparkling Festival Plaza. Whether you’re seeking inspiration, play, or a fresh perspective, Rundle Illuminations promises a night to remember.

Step into the light—and let the city surprise you.
