The South Australian Living Artists Festival returns for another year this August, giving art lovers, existing and emerging visual artists the opportunity to connect and celebrate our homegrown talent.
This year, a heap of East End businesses are taking part in the festival, by hosting selected artists and their works for the entire month. Each exhibition is completely free to view and can be done at your own pace.
East End Program:
This Wee Piggy by Heather Harris
Blending materials and celebrating colour, ‘Framed’ plays with simple shapes, form and negative space.
Through the universal language of Sacred Geometry & Conscious Art, Cathy explores imagination and personal expansion using the ancient gateway of Mandalas. Audiences will quickly realise this exhibition is about more than art and is not to be missed.
How Do We Love Thee? Let Us Count The Ways… Kangaroo Island Waves of Change
Fine Art Kangaroo Island by Various Artists
Twenty talented artists explore the nature of change and their ties to an island home physically isolated for more than 6000 years. For islanders, experiencing change in all its guises is constant and inevitable. A daily challenge and an energising force, change is as natural as the onrush of winter squalls or ocean swells crashing ashore.
This 11th exhibition of island-inspired art is testament to each artist’s keen observations and connectedness. Realised in a range of thought-provoking and exciting mediums, by both emerging and award-winning artists, these works come together as a distinctive expression of the art of place.
A hybrid visual art and live music group exhibition centred around a fictional record store, and is an exploration into vinyl albums, merch design and the collaborative culture surrounding the creation of music.
The exhibition will include a group of Adelaide-based visual artists, each creating album covers and merchandise for imaginary bands or musicians. Local musicians will be performing and interpreting the fake bands live on the opening night.
